Four Kinds of Condoms
One in five people in the United States has been infected with a sexually transmitted disease at some point in their life. Of the more than fifty known diseases that can be transmitted via sexual activity; chlamydia, genital warts, genital herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis B and AIDS are the most common. No, this isn’t a lecture on the importance of condoms, we just think everyone needs a reminder of their benefits every so often. Beyond their uses with prevention, condoms are the oldest, most inexpensive and wildly available sex toys in existence. We think they deserve a lot more praise than they get.
Go Ask Alice! has a great post up answering common questions one couple poses to her about the different types, styles and materials plus advantages and disadvantages of each. Beyond the three types of male condoms, hers is one of the few answers I’ve seen that also includes the pluses and minuses of the Female Condom. An item that doesn’t typically get as much attention as it so richly deserves.
